Under the shade of the doum palms the place is divided into downstream and upstream camps, which offer two separate entities with private mess and lounges. If you are travelling in a big group or simply value privacy, the different parts of the camp can also be booked for exclusive use.
The camp's 8 spacious tents are comfortable, fresh, and elegant, offering spacious accommodation decorated in safari style. Bathrooms are beautifully done in local stone and generously spaced.
Set well apart and with a living fence for privacy, they all face the river and the Yatta Plateau, the world's largest fossilized lava flow (over 200km long).
The two suites of the camp have their own viewing platform where one can enjoy sundowners watching hippos bath in the river or private meals can be served on request. They are ideal for honeymooners in search of privacy, with their own sitting room and water wallow.
The central building houses a spacious dining area, a bar, and a large, comfortable lounge. The thatch roof, Galana stone floors, and deep, bed-size sofas give it a charming and relaxed atmosphere. After dinner gather around the campfire a few metres away from the main building to recount the highlights of the day and to enjoy a drink or two.
As the camp is not fenced a watchman will wait for you to show you back to your tent when you are ready to relax on the veranda or fall asleep to the calming sounds of the bush.
Drives can be organised to take you to explore Luggard Falls at the Galana River, where you can leave the car behind for a short walk along the river bed. You will be accompanied by an armed guard, as the luggas (seasonal tributaries) are favourites of lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos who come to drink from the permanent pools.

Bush breakfasts and dinners can also be arranged for that ‘special occasion’.
