The Mara Sopa Lodge is set in the Oloolaimutia valley within the Ngama Hills and on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The forested slopes of the Ngama Hills provide one of the more likely places to view the Mara’s rare black rhinos as well as offering some great elephant sightings on the fringes of the woodland.
As the lodge has been built in traditional Masai style the rooms are in ‘rondavel’ style huts, which all have en-suite bathrooms with shaving sockets and hairdryers. Every room has a private, elevated veranda, with splendid views across the valley, on which you can relax and enjoy the views and a drink from the mini-bar.

Here, you also have the opportunity to view the Mara plains from a completely different angle as the sun rises – from a hot air balloon! Or, why not visit neighbouring Masai Manyattas to learn about the Masai way of life? Alternative activities include walking safaris, bush breakfasts and sundowner cocktail parties.
As is to be expected at a large lodge there are a wide range of facilities available including direct-dial telephone facilities as well as satellite television, the lodge has a freeform, fresh-water pool, which offers spectacular views over the valley and the in-house shop stocks a wide selection of curios and gift items.
The lodge welcomes children of all ages and can provide both special meals at convenient times and baby sitters on request.
